Enjoy making your own homemade Cleansing Oil

Making your own homemade cleansing oil allows you to formulate it for your own skin type.

Avoid many skin problems by properly caring and cleaning your skin. Homemade cleansing oils remove dirt and clean pores with out dehydrating the skin, while commercial cleansing oils often contain synthetics and drying agents. Cleansing oils are especially well suited to oily and acne skin by adding moisture, help to heal blemishes and leaving your skin soft and smooth. You can make cleansing oils suited for your skin type by adding essential oils for oily, acne, combination, dry, sensitive and mature skin.

For the whole body

3 tbsp. liquid castile soap
3 tbsp. sunflower oil
1 tsp. vegetable glycerin
3 drops peppermint essential oil
3 drops rosemary essential oil

Mix all of the ingredients in a glass bottle. Shake thoroughly before each use. These cleansing oils will keep for about 1 month and can be custom-tailored for every skin type using various essential oils. Caution: Pregnant women and epileptics should avoid using lemon, orange, carrot-seed, peppermint and rosemary essential oils.

Application:

Wash your face and neck. Twice a day, massage 1 tablespoon of cleansing oil onto your face (avoiding the eyes), neck and chest, using gentle circular motions. Moisten your hands, and then gently massage your skin until a small amount of foam appears. Rinse off the oil with warm water and gently dry your skin. Finish by applying facial toner and skin cream, as needed.

Ingredient Benefits:

Vegetable glycerin: Vegetable glycerin is a natural humectant that absorbs excess water from the surrounding air to moisturize the skin. It also acts as a natural preservative for the cleansing oil and mixes well with both oil and water.

Sunflower oil: The oil obtained by cold-pressing sunflower seeds has an appealing, mildly nutty scent. It benefits oily and acne prone skin.

Aloe-vera juice: Aloe-vera juice is made from the healing gel extracted from aloe-vera leaves. Since it's mildly astringent, aloe-vera juice dries oily and soothes flaky, irritated skin. Juice purchased at stores is preferred for homemade cosmetics, since a gentle, non toxic preservative is added to it. Fresh-squeezed aloe gel spoils very quickly.
